  • What guidelines define a chronic, non-healing wound?

    If a wound has not improved significantly in four weeks, or if it has not healed completely in eight weeks, it is considered a chronic, non-healing wound.

  • How many people have difficult to heal or non-healing wounds?

    In the United States, chronic wounds affect around 6.5 million patients and are a very common occurance.

  • What are the primary causes of chronic wounds?

    Diabetes, aging, immobilization, and circulatory problems are some of the issues that contribute to chronic and non-healing wounds. In developed countries, it has been estimated that 1 to 2% of the population will experience a chronic wound during their lifetime.

  • What does "Wound Drainage" mean?

    Wound drainage is a fluid produced from the blood vessels during the inflammatory phase of healing, which is similar to blood plasma. Exudate consists of a mixture of water, proteins, white blood cells, inflammatory mediators, and electrolytes, which play essential roles in wound healing.

  • How often will I see you when you're caring for my wound?

    Depending on the severity of your wound, we can set up a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly wound care treatment plan. If you require daily care (ex. changed bandages, wound cleaning, etc.), we will schedule a support team to help you.

  • What diagnostics do you perform?

  • What kinds of wounds are accepted?

    We accept chronic non-healing wounds only. However, we review each case before accepting it. We only accept cases where we feel we can genuinely make a difference and improve the quality of life of the patient. It's not given that your referral will be accepted by our practice. We certainly don't want to give any false hope, waste time, and resources.

  • Can I schedule a same-day visit?

    Depending on our availability and your needs, we may be able to schedule a same-day visit. Call us at 801-833-0956 and we will be more than happy to help you schedule a visit for your loved one.

  • How long will my wound take to be fully healed?

    It will depend on the type of the wound you have and its severity. However, our approaches to wound care have been designed to help your wound heal in a faster manner. It is based on scientific evidence and requires that you get involved and work in collaboration with your wound care nurse.

  • Do I need a referral from my doctor?

    Referral is not always required, especially if you do not have a primary physician or nurse practitioner. However, if you have one, we recommend that you let them know that you are connecting with us as we may need to work together to better assist you and your wound to heal faster.

  • When should I refer a patient?

    You should refer any patient with an acute wound, a non-healing wound >30 days, diabetic wound, pressure wound, traumatic wound, surgical wound, those being treated with negative pressure wound therapy (i.e. VAC), or those being treated with any wound that is not progressing as expected.

  • How do I refer my patient?

    You can refer a patient by filling out the CONTACT FORM or by calling us directly.

  • How does billing work?

    Adept Medical will bill your insurance company for all care provided. Your plans’ benefits determine the amount the insurance company pays. If your insurance doesn't pay in a reasonable amount of time (generally 45 days) or doesn't cover the total cost of your bill, we may call or write your insurance provider again. We may also contact you for help in processing your insurance claim.

  • Will you accept my insurance?

  • I don't live in your area, but need your services. What can I do?

    If you live outside of our AREA OF COVERAGE and need our services, feel free to contact us for a referral to another clinic more appropriate for your location.
